auschwitz concentration camp, krakow poland

i vistited this concentration camp from the holocaust just a few days ago. it was truly life changing. society today believes they understand the terrors that occured during that time of animosity, but standing where they stood, being where it all happened brought me to a realization. 

we can never understand it. we will never go through what they went through, the bitter cold on my face was nothing like what they experienced. i would never feel the panic they felt each and every day. fearing for their lives became a normality. 

the tears that fell down my face were in memorial for those that were shed by the people that were stronger than I will ever be.
